After a little more research, I am certain it is a Columbian vise, but not sure of the model number or value.

The model number should be cast into the other side of the vise. A quick search on Ebay should give you an idea of the value. It won't be much, probably around $30 - $40.

I don't own it, I just found it for sale and was wondering if it was worth buying. I think it is a model 143 judging from other pictures I have found. I have been wanting to restore another old vise, but I think I will pass on this one. It's a lot smaller than I thought.

I'd pay $5 or less. It's missing the swivel base and it's an open screw. IMO.

FF: originally it was a swivel base, but it could be mounted if there is a hole in the other side or if you can drill one. less than $10 so if it is I know many good machinists and handy guys that have one on their bench, but i'd wait for a bigger one or one with all it's parts.

I decided against it. I am really wanting a big vise to restore. I restored a Reed a few months ago, and now I'm hooked. I don't need anymore vises but I can't help myself. It's a weird thing to get hooked on if you think about it.

FF: if you keep your eye out on Craigslist and are willing to spend $100-200 you'll have a vise that is not only is in a lot better shape, but big and old enough for you to want to keep it and pass it on to one of your grand kids.
of course if you are really quick you might find one for less than $100, but you have a lot of competition. i'm sure you've noticed the vise thread and maybe read a few of the pages and seen pictures. there is also a YouTube 4 part video about the vises of Garage Journal a guy made last year that takes 4 hours to watch if you just want pictures without all the reading. those only are about 1/3 of the vises on the thread.

Any idea about this one?
I know it is a Chas. Parker, but not sure of the model number, and cannot tell if it is all there, I can't tell if its missing a swivel base, or if that is a bolt sticking through for mounting it. I was told it has 4" jaws and opens to 4.5". Also, if you could give me an estimate on it's value. Thanks

FF: that's an older style Parker that has a mounting screw that goes through the bench. it's missing the bottom place and huge wing nut and of course the pipe jaws. keep looking unless you need a project or a collectible. here's my Reed that has the similar plate and wing nut so you can see how that Parker works.
