Hello,

I’m looking to identify two vises I picked up for $60. I will be giving them a wire brush bath later today so I might have better photos then. The red vise was kind of a throw in, but I’m more concerned about trying to identify the gray vise. There were definitely numbers, perhaps a patent number on the front movable Jaw but they are unreadable. On the static jaw, there is a Stamped “Part No. 2”. It does appear to be a drop forged vise.4A5F216A-37AC-4F82-88FB-29FBE7F7CB37.jpeg

Do a GJ search for "Dropfo" and you'll probably get more information about your vise than you'll know what to do with. I'd say you did very well with your purchase.

It's apparently supposed to be a very strong vise, checkout the following ad for it's ridiculous marketing.

GJ member, @davethorik owns at least -3- of these vises and I'd consider him to be our local expert on this subject.

That’s awesome. I really appreciate it. I’m sure you veterans on this page are sick of us Newbies, asking what everything under the sun is. Much appreciated.

Nice vises BC! And thank you for the image Fierljeppen.

Bought the bottom shown vise years ago to go with a vintage milling machine. Just got the machine out of storage and set up. Cleaned up the vise and made some jaws for it this winter. Now I can print out your catalog cut and tack it up.
