Picked up this old vise at a garage sale this weekend. It's different than any vises that I have seen before. Wondering if anyone has one like it or would know anything about it. The only markings found are a few hard to read numbers on the side, appears to be "1016". Would love to know how old it is & to figure out the manufacturer if possible. It weighs just under 18lbs, jaws are 3", opens up 5" & is 15" long when closed. Any info much appreciated.

It's what was usually called a "farmer's vise." Light-duty vises intended for occasional use at home or farm. Probably on the order of 80 to 100 years old. Determining make will be elusive, because many of them were non-branded items sold by hardware stores. Looks like it's in pretty good condition for its age.
