I posted earlier about a Delta drill press I bought. the dp came with a vise. It is very substantial. No markings, does anyone have any idea on maker? it looks similar to a couple of brown and sharpe visas I've seen.

Definitely looks like a vintage milling machine vise, lots of them were relegated to drill press duty when the Kurt Anglock type pretty much took over the market. If it is a B&S, it would most likely be stamped, often in very small letters, look at the top of the sliding jaw, especially that little flat pad right above where the screw goes in. Might have to wire wheel it, might be marked on top of the fixed jaw also, although I think somewhere on the sliding jaw is more likely.

Looks like a shaper or horizontal mill vise. How wide are the jaws? Looks a bit large and cumbersome for that size of drill press table.

Hey zkling, it is way too cumbersome. jaws are 5 1/2" wide, open about 3 1/2". Overall its about 16" x 9". I'll clean it up a little and sell or trade it toward a vise that will work.
