This is up in an auction and the only pic provided. Any help in I'd and possible value?

Athol makes decent vices. Maybe guestimate sizing based on the boards on the shipping container? Paid about $45 for my 4" off CL in Denver.

Edit: Mine was a very good price for what it was. Works great and just needs to be cleaned and re-painted.

EK: that Starrett Athol vise is worth a lot more than $45 if it works, but since the main screw is out it could have a bad vise nut and or a missing sleeve. other than rust i don't see much wrong with it and it looks like maybe a 4.5 or 5 inch wide jaw. pristine it would be worth $300+-

can you see it in person before bidding? look at the vise nut and post pictures and i'll try to help you if i see them. as you might have seen i check GJ threads fairly often especially the vise threads.

cheers

Looks like a Starrett body with a Columbian slide and screw. I wonder if they're actually interchangeable.

EK: the guys might be correct about that main screw coming from another vise. as i see it better here on my laptop instead of on my little cell the dynamic jaw might even be from a NON Starrett/Athol vise. parts are worth something but not much, but i'm guessing it wouldn't be a working vise with what's showing. if it was an all Starrett or Athol vise they are some of the best vises made in case you didn't already know.

X2, I'd be very surprised if those two actually were one vise. The dynamic jaw looks larger and heavier than the base/static jaw.
