Vise issues

So.. I picked up a cool little vise from Craigslist the other day. Rust covered the whole thing. Tool it for a bath at redistrip and came back clean. Now my handles didn't have any good chrome to start with, but had chrome on the at one time. My question is how can/should I finish them. Paint seems like it may quickly chip off. Any thoughts or suggestions would be wonderful.

I usually beadblast the handles & them polish then with a wirewheel..

Got a pic or model number? Being a chromed handle I assume it is a modern off shore vise?

I usually wire wheel or blast off flaking chrome. As for finish on a vise handle, I just wire wheel, first coarse then fine for a good, smooth burnished finish.
