I was retired out this year and I am starting to slowly finish all those projects that I was always going to do when I got around to it. Well I was given a (round tuit) and was told to get with it. So I started on my vise it is something I use almost every day and Drivesitfar noticed one of the locks was missing so I had to fix it. The vise is a parker #21x and was in good shape just well used. I disassembled it and started on the missing lock first.ce56f7ec6dca538af22003894a07959c.jpg
I found a piece of round stock in one of my buckets and turned out the knob to match the old one.d357ca221f1983539494bc27fca95de0.jpg
I found this part from a trailer hitch and a bolt the third part is the original lock that I am going to try and duplicate.70e246e7d2270b38d92987bf981a4b90.jpg
I tapped the bar and threaded in the bolt.8eb7cd7cfaca09f86ad4cca2cc22f3c9.jpg

Ground the bar to the correct thickness.e8cc98234e555f462fec7ca39110dba2.jpg
I cut both ends to match the original piece cleaned up all the edges and wire wheeled everything smooth04d437f37e944faee72d3575335684d6.jpgf1fd7630ce5d1b78d2f4862b175f9acf.jpg17e366c87be3d2261bfe72847471e310.jpg6482148c5d07acdb973c41040a0e19fb.jpg04735fd0be699476229d58b27cc0204d.jpg

Nice job on the locks. [emoji106]. I’m pretty sure I would have done it the same way!

Great work! She is almost so pretty you don’t wanna get her dirty now! BTW as far as temporary vice set ups go, that Wilton is a pretty nice fall back.

JIM: even though you haven't made the handles yet for your new locks I bet even tightening the vise's swivel down with a screwdriver really makes it more stable. yes?

great work on the vise and stand and your grinder!!:bowdown::bowdown:

is that hammered silver rustoleum and would you might showing the can cause it's one of my favorite colors when i'm not using BLO on my old naked steel?

Thanks for the words.
Yes it locks nicely and its smooth as silk since I cleaned out all of the trash and old grease then applied a new thin coat of Kluber lube.
I'm still looking for the (just right) screws to go in the tightening rods I have a box of brass machine screws I'm thinking of using.
The paint is rustoleum paint & primer in one, flat antique nickel
