Vise on Grinder Stand?

I bought a couple of the Wen cast iron grinder pedestal stands off Amazon, like below.

The stands are quite sturdy, and it got me thinking, would it make sense to mount my vise on one of these as well? My current workbench top isn't the most stable / solid top, and the pedestal can be lagged to the floor so it wouldn't budge.

Is this something other people do? And are there any issues or cons going this route?

I have a vise on a stand like that. I use it many times to weld something or for some other hot work. Rather than using the one at the bench, I can do it in the middle of the floor, without dragging out the welding table or if I choose to, outside.

Yeah, do it in my opinion.

I have a vise,on a pedestal I made.
Not really used for wrenching on something but more, for holding things and for welding.
Comes in handy.

If you do,it see if you can add some weight in the bottom of that base tube. It will help

I have that stand for my grinder, and agree it's pretty sturdy. Just to give it additional stability/low CoG, I threw a couple old brake rotors over the pole with some cardboard in between them and the stand, and then mounted the top. The top isn't super-beefy, but for a smaller vise I think it would work fine.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping if I used some large tapcons for each of the three base feet, that would give the base the stability it needs.

I'd be using a 4" vise on it, nothing huge. It would probably see a bit of hammering, but I'm also not going to be wailing on anything either.

Nice stand, I'll have to hang some hooks on mine. I only my stand for bench grinder but 4 bolts removed and could mount vise or use as a 3rd hand when cutting with bandsaw...smaller adjustable stand has had small vise mounted at times

Is the height adjustable on that stand?

Sturdy my ***! l I bought one but not sure how a vice would work because its too light for a bench grinder. I bumped mine and it fell over. Not enough weight on the feet to keep it from being top heavy for my 6" bench grinder. Have a HF stand for my 8" that i have never had to bolt down and it has a lot more weight in the feet. Might as well have made this out of tin foil.

What my Grandfather did was to then mount that stand on plywood. It looked a little funny to me but it works so much better because to use it you stand on the plywood.
