I'll be back in the area in about a week and a half. Might call and ask if they'll hold The vise and grinder. I kinda doubt it though.

It just looks like trouble and honestly, non-swivel vises are horrible from a resale standpoint. I don't think it's that big either, 4" maybe is my guess. Could be wrong on that though. I'd have to get that for a third of what he's asking.

One time long ago I threw up a listing on CL Los Angeles mentioning I lived in the Chicago Area and for a fee and prepayment I would inspect buy and ship any items under 50 lbs. I gave my Ebay feedback rating however there is no reason for discussion. I had it up for a month without a reply. Looking back, that might not have the brightest idea I ever had.

I did call him, he's a pretty cool guy on the phone. He wasn't at home and couldn't measure it. he says he thinks it's five inches and that it's been sitting a long time but opened and closed when he stored it years ago. He told me he'd measure it when he gets home and call me back. I'll let you know if I hear anything more on it.

Cool deal bud, thanks. Any idea what exactly is behind the vise in the pic?

The vise is a Massey. It is a 6" vise which is unbelievable to me, that must be one freaking huge grinder behind it in the photo. There is a weld repair on the vise, it's on one of the mounting ears. Looked like it was a clean break. This isn't a vise I would want to get involved with but if the weld doesn't bother somebody it could be a nice fixer upper. It would need a lot of effort though imho.

Edit: You can see the weld in the photo if you look closely.

A 10"/1 hp grinder would scare this old man to death...:scared:

My garage would never be the same...

Curiosity question----He said that he has wheels for it, but how much would new wheels be for that beast???:headscrat:headscrat

I'm really curious what exactly that big grinder is behind the vise in the pic lol.

It's gone though, shouldn't twist my mind over it.

As for the 10", when I called him, I told him I'm east of the mountains and will be heading back over on the coast in a week and a half or so, and I'll give him a call back. If he still has it, I'll swing by and take a look at it and the vise.

Depending on what you wanted, type, material and face width wise. ~$35+ a pop. Once you go past 8" wheels, abrasives start to get expensive pretty fast.

.

Yea me too, so I searched the phone number and that is how I found the B&D grinder. Looks like the guy is cleaning out his shop.

If I end going to look at the grinder and stuff, I'll have to do some browsing around for other goodies lol.

here's the picture of the grinder and as much as i like almost any grinder and especially the big ones i'm passing on this one even though only $65. looks like it has cheap guards and tool rests and not sure what brand with that badge.

since the vise has a broken and fixed foot i passed on that too before you posted this thread. if you need a project just let me know and i may have something or keep looking.
