Hi
New guy here, so if this post ends up somewhere is shouldn't.... Sorry!

I'm looking for parts for a Reed 205 1/2 vise. What I need is the swivel base plate. So far I've struck out finding anything. Would anyone happen to have parts??

Thanks for any help!

Iowa: welcome to GJ and glad to have you. instead of starting a thread asking for parts or any thread for that matter you might want to try a quick search to see if there might be another thread you can add on to or get information from. click on the search this thread and see if there is anything and you might find an answer.

anyway i'm sure you will have a lot to offer on things you know about and here's my help to you and hopefully will help you in your search for parts for your Reed. Here is a parts thread you can check to see if any parts are available or put in your request on it. also there is a wanted section on the forum page you can start a thread on.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88292&highlight=vise+parts

also what I've done to give a vise a swivel option that was either missing one or never had one is to build or buy a stand that you can use in any position you like.

good luck and again glad to have you join our gang.

Ok thanks! I figures someone could lead me in the right direction. I'll check out the other thread and keep looking.

Yep, tried them. They didn't quite laugh at me. I have also tried Viseparts.com and JPW. All bases are too new.

I'm hoping to run across someone with a broken vise, but good base that they would be willing to part out.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Drat. Only thing I can think of, and you probably already know anyway is to hawk eBay for a donor vise. It may take a year but eventually one will come up with a broken jaw or slide or whatever but with a good base.
