Vise restoration question

I am curious to know the worst rusted frozen solid vise someone has restored to functioning. I have seen a few old vises for sale but they are really rusted. I wouldn’t mind attempting cleaning one up but not having a ton of experience, would hate to buy one that has no hope of being brought back to a bench top.

If anyone has links or photos of before and after of really rusted vises.

Thank you for the link. I am most of the way through the posts and think I may not want that much of a challenge just yet. Some of the vises I am thinking about look very similar condition wise. I do not have a way to improvise some of his tools to take the vise apart.

There are a couple of large threads on GJ that are vice specific. Utilize the search function and start reading. Posting pics in those threads of the vises you are interested in is the best way to gain understanding of what might be acceptable restoration condition.
