Vise restoration

Have a yost 34c vise tore it apart blasted it primed it and painted a nice blue enamel. Painted the whole vise not sure if i should of left the slides bare what does everyone else think? I just feel the paint wont last .

I like to leave the ends unpainted, mostly because I think it looks "right". I usually warm them up with a hair dryer and apply a couple coats of paste wax to prevent rusting. Her's a Yost I did a couple years ago.

If you painted the slide, it could retard the movement of the slide, and will certainly scrape off pretty quickly from the slide area that comes in contact with the main casting.

I will get pics up was in garage all day working on welding table in between blowing 12 inches of snow off the driveway.
