I posted an ad on CL for a vise. A fella contacted me about his relatively new Wilton 1780A 8" Tradesman Vise. Offered it to me for 5 benjamins.

I've tried negotiating down because I can find it new for 599+shipping..

Should I even bother to go see it?

Thatcoder.....make sure to put your location (state or whatever) in your name area. Maybe someone might know of a deal near you and save you shipping etc.

Not that I'm going to go and plop down 6 bills for a vise, but where in the world did you find a new 8" Wilton for $599? Every online source I know of lists them for $799.

Ask Mitch, he might be selling his 1780A.

Hi, unless you need it today, I would try to find one on craigs or ebay. Local tractor and antigues shows , meets might be a good place to look too. JR

NoVa isn't the easiest place to find a good used vise. Large population with almost no industry .

Here's one if you don't mind a drive: Vise

Think New Mexico........farmers and ranchers who buy the cheapest things they can (except rolling crop equipment)....no heavy industry.....no history of manufacturing.....all we have is the railroad and they aren't getting rid of vises at any great pace. That's why I love folks in the Northeast and upper Midwest. Keep those great vises coming up for sale!
