Vise Slop?

Just picked up an old Made in England #6 Record vise. I noticed when I "wind it in" and out, there is quite alot of side to side movement of the jaw attached to the handle. I notied there are machined "ways" on the vise, so I was just thinking it should be "tighter"

Is this normal? Did I not put it back together properly after disassembly and cleaning? I'm not really concerned, just curious. It cost me $30 and clamps things quite nicely!

Slop is normal in a used vice try some thick grease on the lead screw, as long as the jaws do not rack you are fine.
