Just venting, but why the heck is there a single thread for vises? I mostly ignore it anymore, as its usually a couple members exchanging comments about one thing or another, that I don't care about. Seems like there should be a separate vise category. JMO.

There are many specialty threads such as the one dedicated to the Craftsman 519x industrial duty vises made back about 60-70 years ago.
BTW, I have a 5191 and a 5197
There is another thread that is almost 100% pictures and data listing sizes and weights of many many different vises. That was started by KMScott if I recall.

There have been several vise threads over the years. If you're seeking specific knowledge about a vise you own, feel free to start a new thread on the subject.

I just searched "vise" and got 500 responses back with the word in the title. MANY more than one thread regarding vises. This site is chock full of vise threads.
With that said, I will agree with you regarding the thread(s) getting a little back and forth and off topic at time, but that usually happens with any thread with more than 20 responses on any forum. Nature of the beast.

There are close to TEN MILLION page views on that thread so far. Good evidence that there is a lot of interest beyond just a few guys chatting and showing off their vises.
