I've been looking for a big old vise for awhile now, but they're few and far between around here. I found this one, although I don't know if it's worth the $200 asking price? It has no cracks or repairs. I think it's a Reed. Opinions?

Well, $200 for a 6" Reed, in particular a beast of that girth, is not too far off the mark. I've rarely paid much under $200 to get my hands on 6" vises. If you can knock the price down a bit and don't mind missing pipe jaws, it's probably not bad.

I stick to $0.50/lb weight for vises under 100 lbs and $1/lb over 100 lbs as a maximum for vises that are in good condition and need nothing other than maybe a derusting and paint. Many on here will disagree, but then again many of them end up paying $100 for the same Wilton bullet I have <$20 into....which reminds me, I need to get started on cleaning up the second one I found this year now that I pulled it out from under the Bridgeport.
