Vise with D stamped - What is it?

Can someone identify this vise. D marked on one side and no marking on the other side that I could see. Thanks in advance

known for some heavy railroad type stuff - jacks IIRC.

A brief 'net serch revealed Desmond did (does?) make vises similar to yours. Some double named Desmond Simplex. None I saw had the logo yours has, but I only spent 30 sec searching.

I've exhausted my vise database with no clue to a mfg. I did stumble on a post by va.grouseman that listed several other Circle "D" vises that have been previously posted.

It sure looks like an American vise, but I'm always suspicious of a Japanese clone, when there are no mfg. identification castings on the vise.

Your second pic, the first 's handle and the OP welded jaw makes me wonder of the quality.
