Was wondering if anyone has found any vises at Pawns shops. I haven't. Would think that would be a good avenue, and haven't seen any mention on GJ.

Have a great day.

I picked up a 4" Craftsman (made in Japan) for $8 at a local pawn shop.
I had been looking for a cheap little vise to mount to a table at work for quite some time.
This fit the bill, it was cheap and not cracked.

The only ones I've seen at my local pawn shop are imports and usually hideously overpriced. Like above retail overpriced. I still go look though because...vise.

Based on the tool prices I've seen, I'd be scared to see what a pawn shop around here would want for a decent USA vise.
I've had better luck browsing craigslist and hitting the flea market. Just last Saturday, I came across a little Dunlap (5244 I think) that was in OK shape for $25 at the flea market. If I didn't have 2 vises in the garage that still aren't mounted, I would've jumped on it.

There's one around here that always has a few. None elsewhere.

While we're on the subject, is an old version of this vice worthwhile?

I'm assuming it's Asian in origin, but would an old one (20+ years) be USA made and better? Worth $50?

I have one similar I dislike it. Pull on it to much it spins, doesn't stay put on the base. Only has one locking screw on the base. I'm waiting for a better vise to come along. I have good Wilton on my company truck and a chain vise.

I have seen a couple of pawn shops around here listing vises on CL with prices that are a little on the high side, but not unreasonable.
