I have this vise. Unused and given to me as a gift.

Wondering if I should sell it and get this one?

I know this is not big change, but the reviews on the gray one are terrible. People really seem to like the Red one. Toolguyd listed this as a best vise for $100.

As much as I'd love a Wilton Bullet, I just can't bring myself to drop that kind of money.

Just clicked on your link and Craftsman website says NOT AVAILABLE, even if you want it shipped.

Thus, that is Kharma telling you . . . . . do NOT buy shiny new vise !!

Instead, keep checking CL and buy some good ole American iron!! :D

For your old vise, need to "Pay It Forward" and give to someone you know who needs it, and provide website for GJ and pre-requisite training that ALL wrenchers should eventually have a Baby Bullet and full-size American VISE !! ;)

CNGsaves,

I think that is just for "not available" for shipping, but Store Pickup if Free.

You're right. I put in different zip code and found one about 50 miles away for store pickup. However, none in the big city. Better snag these quick if you want one.

I was just giving you the jazz. That's a nice vise for $121 which you can get even for less with Shop Your Way points, and using Sears credit card.

I never thought about other cities not having them.

Oh, I found this on another Cman Pro Vise thread. Posted by The Ratchet Man.

"The vise is imported by The Adjustable Clamp Co. for Sears. Sears Parts Direct and Sears CS directed me to them as being the manufacturer. After speaking with TACC and giving them the model #51888 stamped on the side of the vise, they verified that they only import it for Sears but they do have jaw inserts in stock for order at $7 a pair plus shipping. They only offer the standard inserts though. No other parts are available, even the pipe inserts.

Call their customer service number listed on their site. They're really nice folks. I ordered a couple of sets today and will report back when they arrive."

Also, on one of the other threads it was mentioned that all the Wilton 1745 stuff fits this Vise.

Posted by Autopts:

"The 1745 and the Craftsman have interchangable parts. Jaws, pipe jaws, front collar, thats about all that ever wears on these vises. "

CNGsaves,

Looks like you are now correct with your original statement. I was going to pull the trigger and now I see that it is not available for store pickup no matter what location I enter.

I don't see any reason to upgrade one import vise for another import vise. :dunno: I would just use what you've got until it breaks then buy a nice American vise on CL.
