I need to replace a leaky drain valve on the back on my Vitarond 100 boiler. That part seems pretty easy straightforward.

What I would like from experts is best way to drain down so I can swap the valve and more importantly how to refill properly and restart boiler.

Here is a link to some pics, sorry they are sideways

Thanks

Great boilers ...........So it's just the valve leaking. You have a new one? Has the pressure feed been loading it with water as it's been leaking?

Basically -- you shut off the vales to the zones and close off the boiler. Turn off the valve to the feed. Open the drain --- Do you see any other fitting/ valve higher up near the air eliminator?

Often you connect a house to that and open the water feed and it purges the whole thing. open the zones back up ...

The key is to keep the zones free of air -- important to isolate the boiler.

Take a few more pictures -- to show piping around feed and pressure tank.

More pics posted at original link http://www.kitails.com/Boiler.html

Shutoff valve on both sides of backflow preventer and pressure regulator. Shut off valve on both sides of circulator pump with a vent on boiler side of valve.

Each zone valve has a shutoff valve and hose bib with it's own valve

It's the boiler drain valve that's leaking so I need to isolate boiler, drain, replace valve and refill properly prior to restarting boiler.

I think it's clear which valves to close and open to drain it but open to sound advice especially for refilling keeping the air out.

Thanks
