Voltage Tester for DC?

Please forgive my ignorance on this topic.

I have a Klein NCVT-2 that is great for low and high AC, as well as a Fluke 115 that does everything else I need.

What I'd like to know is if there is a tool available that's similar to the non contact voltage testers that will recognize DC.

I know from my GJ travels that DC doesn't have a static field, so the AC testers don't pick it up, but if my multimeter can recognize it, surely there's a simpler piece of tech for just that purpose?

If the tool I'm looking for does exist, please recommend whatever you use.

Thanks in advance!

You can not detect DC with a Non-Contact tester, like you use for AC. For the unit to pick up voltage without contact, the source must be a varying AC wave. I have seen people post links to DC testers that they claim are "non contact". But, if you read the description they actually have a very sharp and thin probe, that is used to pierce the insulation and touch the wire inside. So, in reality, it is a DC tester that does not require a bare wire to get a measurement, since you pierce the insulation.

There ARE Non-Contact testers that can measure DC Current though. But, these can be dangerous for some people. These testers will only let you know when current is actually flowing in a DC wire. If it detects current, then you know that voltage is there as well. But, no current could still mean DC voltage that could harm you. So, be careful is you go that route.
