well thank you all for the quick calculation. I need to place it about two feet above the grade, old railroad ties on flat stones are the traditional material for holding up tanks here.
I had been thinking of four legs and cross members of 4 x 4 heavy wall, but the weight would be too much, looks like the traditionalists are right in this case.
