Is there anyone out there with a variable speed/reversing (VSR) hammer drill who uses the tool to drill holes (wood and concrete) and drive screws/anchor bolts?

By this... I mean such tools as:
Black & Decker 7192 3/8" VSR Hammer Drill
Black & Decker 7197 3/8" VSR Hammer Drill
Black & Decker 7277 1/2" VSR Hammer Drill
Black & Decker Professional 5076-09 (5077-09 kit) 3/8" VSR "Hammer Gun"
Black & Decker Industrial 5070/DeWalt DW500/Sears Craftsman Industrial 27115 3/8" VSR "Screamer"
Black & Decker Industrial 5072/DeWalt DW510 1/2" VSR "Screamer"
Skil 599 & 600 "Xtra Tool"
Skil 6425 "Slugger"

But I also wonder if these multi-duty drills may be considered a little "too much" (both in terms of price and functions) for most household carpenters?

Most have gone cordless... :)

I only pull out the corded 1/2" Milwaukee for drilling BIG holes or the Makita SDS for concrete. Otherwise its cordless all the way, impact driver most of the time and the drill/hammer/driver less so.
