I've been lurking for a while and figured before I ask any questions it would be polite to introduce myself.

I live on north side of Atlanta GA, specifically in the city of Dunwoody.
I moved back to Atlanta in 2012 after spending 20+ years in Houston, TX.

I work in the IT group of a financial processing company here in Atlanta.

My main interest in vehicles at the moment is VWs, I own 3 hobby cars:
1959 VW Karmann Ghia Convertible
1972 VW Karmann Ghia Coupe
1981 VW Scirocco S

We bought our house in 2013, and got very lucky. It's 1.4 acres right in the middle of everything. The house came with a 2 car attached garage as well as separate 25x25 shop building.

Most of the car projects have been on hiatus while we bring our house forward from the 1970s, but that's mostly done so I'm starting to work on the shop and the cars.

I've enjoyed the community via lurking and look forward to participating.

Welcome, Ted! I'm new here, too!

Check out my avatar. You and I share an interest in more than just garages. I have a '66 Beetle and my brother has a '74 Ghia. :rocker:

My Beetle is one of the reasons that I'm building a garage.

I have another brother who works in Valdosta (sadly, he doesn't own an air cooled ride).

Cheers!

Welcome to GJ!

I drove by the local body shop a few days ago and sitting out front was a freshly painted early 70's Super Beetle. Super cool in bright yellow. Its bumpers and trim hadn't yet been put back on. Love the air cooled VW's.

Thanks Grug!
Yeah my family probably belongs in a VW commercial...:willy_nil
My wife drives a 2015 Tiguan.
My dad drives a 2011 Tiguan and a 1970 VW bus that he restored and shows.
My mother drives a 2008 Jetta.
My brother has a 1969 Ghia Convertible he's starting to restore.
My oldest daughter had a 2010 Jetta until it drowned in a flood at her college apartment in TX last year.
My step daughter has a 2008 Jetta as well.

Here's a picture of my dad's bus and my 1959 Ghia a few years ago.

Welcome from Cherokee county! I like old VWs, I don't own any though. My sis has had several though, I really liked the '85 Scirocco she had.

Nice looking Ghia! They truly were the 'poor man's Porsche'.

One of the many reasons I'm building a garage this spring is to be able to tinker on my old Beetle. I remember as a teenager trying to jack up a Beetle with a floor jack on a gravel driveway...not a good idea.
