Me and my buddy are doing our garages hes using the box store waterbased and im using wolverine from fred when I get the money saved. He washed and etched floor yesterday and wants to do it this afternoon. I looked at the cement and it looks damp still.
How long should you wait for the surface to dry when applying waterbased?
I looked at alot of products and some water based like ucoat etc tell you to apply first coat after wetting area with hose? You think he will be ok??

after degreasing & power washing & etching & power washing & powerwashing, you need it really dry. In the Nevada desert, I waited several days (I asked the vendor). In a less hot & dry place, I'll bet you need to wait at least a week.

Tell your buddy to wait till next weekend. Next Friday have him tape down a plastic garbage bag to the floor with duct tape & look at it 24 hours later -- if the concrete looks darker (damper) it isn't ready yet.

Most waterborne products require a completely dry floor. I know... it sounds crazy since it has water in it... BUT... those products are prone to blushing or poor film formation when they are applied on a damp surface. The best policy is to read the directions... OR... ask the manufacturer of the exact product you are using!
