Hi, i know i ask a lot of ?'s but its the only way to learn. Ive got this brace from the bingham co. No 118. Can anyone tell me the year it was made around? Value? Rarity? Etc. Thanks for your time.
Keep it and get some Jennings twist bits for it. I've got an old brace that my Pop owned--we used it on the farm when I was a boy. The pad-handle fell off and I replaced it in 1973. I've got several sets of Jennings bits for it. I use it from time to time, especially for precise work like this--putting in a Baldwin mortise lockset. Value of these--not so much, but this one is priceless to me.
Brace and bits sets sell for (or the asking price is) around $30-35 on CL. Well sharpened they can do some real work in no time. And build up your arms as well.
