W202 Tie Rod Assembly

2000 C230K with about 100m.

Noticed one of the boots on the outside tie rod was a goner.

When this happened to my 1999 C280, I just replaced the tie rod ends.

Is it considered better practice to replace the entire unit, tie rod ends and center piece?

I think on that car, only the outer ends are available separately, otherwise you need to replace the 3 rods complete. If it's just a boot on the outer tie rod end and everything else is in good shape, I'd just replace the end.
