Wadsworth ratcheting bit set?

Learned about the Wadsworth ratcheting bit sets here on GJ. A photo is attached. I've been using the Chapman stuff but I don't like the Chapman ratchet. The Wadsworth ratchet looks better. I have heard some folks mention that Chapman bits are pretty soft and easy to break.

Anyone used both sets? Can the bits be used in the other manufacturers ratchet? Anyone find a source for individual Wadsworth bits? Other comments? Thanks!

Your bits should work in any other bit driver. They should be 1/4".

As long as the drive size is the same it should be good to go.

Never had an issue with Chapman, and I use mine for gunsmith work too.

While I appreciate everyone's attempt at answering my questions, the Wadsworth and Chapman sets DO NOT use standard 1/4" hex bits. The bits are proprietary and are longer than standard 1/4 x 1" hex bits. I'd really like to hear from folks that actually have the tools. Thanks!

The only thing "proprietary" about Chapman is the detent ball and the little knurled fingertip grip on the end. They ARE 1/4" drive...

So yes, they will work; I've used Chapman in other driver handles, and other bits in the Chapman ratchet.

wrong the Wadsworth is spline drive, been using them for years at work, the Wadsworth is a very tough little set , you can buy the sets and the bits fro MSC page 2348 big book on line

I feel uncomfortable with those based on your prior post about live-electrical devices.

I'd go with something that has locking extensions and all-in-one-piece bit sockets which have retention grooves inside.

the spline drive does lock in very well as good or better than a retention groove

also where do you find something that small in a all in one piece ???

The Wadsworth is proprietary spline and not a standard 1/4" hex. As for strength I have broken both brands bits, I have broken the Apex ratchet but never a Wadsworth..

Larry I DID HAVE A Wadsworth's ratchet break on me i cracked the spline in the ratchet, ( yes i was kill it at the time ...) the ratchet are lifetime repair, have a couple of xtra ratchets so i just send them back for repair / refreshing as needed

Thanks for the feedback from folks who actually have a Wadsworth set. Techni-Tool stocks them too and I have one on order.
