Is of course made in china. Are there anything equivalent that is made in the USA? thanks

IMHO, the Wagner Power Painter was a POS even when it was made here. Back when my brother was in college in the late 80's, he used a WPP to paint his boat with Imron (not it's intended use, I'll admit). Danged thing looked like it had been painted with a pine top. Ugly as a man's ***.
Seriously, everybody I ever knew who had one could never get the spray pattern right or get it clean enough to work the second time around. YMMV.

About the only thing they were/are good for is APPLYING stain or latex paint that you plan on backrolling. A lot of overspray too.

Everything I read about them gave bad reviews. And if you used it once and came back to use it again it wouldn't work, no matter how good you clean them the tips still get plugged. Basically a onetime use and throw away.
I ended up buying a titan sprayer for around 350 bucks. Worked great andhave used it numerous times without any problems.
And no matter what sprayer you end up buying if any, you still need to backroll after spraying to get a nice even look.

My father-in-law and I used one he bought back in the late 80's/early 90's to do my whole garage. It worked VERY WELL. He had used it numerous times before and he always does a thorough cleaning after use. Two coats of light grey with no primer and the walls looked great. It does overspray a bit but I found that having a piece of cardboard in my hand while I painted would make it edge just fine.
I have nothing bad to say about it.
Two things to note: Make sure you thin your paint correctly and also when starting with a fresh pot of paint the sprayer will kind of throw a goober at start up. We found if you start off the wall for a second then move onto the wall it looks just fine.

Not rebuildable, at least not worth paying for the rebuild. they clog unless special care is taken to get the right consistency. don't use high solids paints (any good premium paint) or they will wear very fast. We used to deal people that would bring these things in for "service"... we did spraytech/wagner/speeflo/titan/graco/etc warranty/fact. auth. work and dealt w/ big airless sprayers on a regular basis. Basically, the parts/labor cost more than buying a new one, saw probably 10 a year come through on 1-use kills. rent a good airless for a 1-time job, save up for an entry level airless piston pump or good used pro pump if you want to keep it around a while. IMO, any consumer level paint system (other than a roller and brush) is junk and not worth the $$$, but that's just me.
