Walden 4051

For those who own the Walden 4051 ratchets, is the anvil gear and pawl the same for the bullet handle and other versions? Purchased one online and could possibly needs parts. Bullet head appears to be taller than the others. Thanks for any advice.

It's totally different, actually some type of clutch mechanism on that one with the big head.

I suspected as much. Difficult to find. Hope I get lucky when the one I purchased arrives and it's the spring or something. Otherwise....I'll be searching for another and use two to make one good collectible unit.

Another quick question. I found a Billings pointed handle or bullet handle ratchet. As far as collecting goes, is there a preference on collectibility.....between say the bullet handle walden and the billings? I have no idea.

Billings is likely made by herbrand, pretty good ratchets. There are certainly people who collect them. As far as bullet handle ratchets go the blackhawk 7/16 drive bring the most money.

Ok. Thanks for intel. I just want a bullet handle to add to display. I have a nascar display and add things to overall in building.

So now I wonder if the cap that changes the direction of pawl is the same on all 4051 units. In case my issue is a tab that is broken for one direction.

That is a common problem I have found on the Walden round head ratchets. Those tabs are small and weak, made from a cast piece.

So, do you repair.....or will most any 4051 cap work? Tabs appear to be a an issue. I'm learning as I go. Thank you.

I have managed to repair a couple, but under daily use the repairs fail after a time. It's a design flaw.
