Digging through my Walden stash I came across these "Starwheel" ratchets. They were made in both 3/8" and 1/2" and compared to palm ratchets made today are larger and heavier.

Pretty cool! It looks like the user could get some good leverage with the star design. Probably more than the typical round versions. What’s the time frame on those?

I bought one (3/8) at a Brookstone store about 30 years ago.

Don't know why, just thought it was a neat addition to the toolbox.

I don't use those palm ratchets myself, but those look like nice ones.

Not sure of the time frame, Alloy Artifacts does not show one and my 1954 catalog does not list them. I'm thinking maybe 1946-1950.

Ole Slewfoot has posted his before in the Walden thread and the Ratchets thread and the timeframe was inconclusive in those conversations as I recall. Is that a little Registered Trademark "(R)" symbol at the end of the "STARWHEEL" name? If so, it couldn't have been made before 1946. That is when the USPTO established that symbol.
