Hey everyone.
Sorry I haven't been around in a while, garage has taken a backseat to the Jeeps, guns, and work addictions.

I'm looking at the Meyer HotShot 70HD walk behind sand/salt spreader. Anyone have any experience with any type of these spreaders and how well they work?

They are basically a rotary fertilizer spreader on steroids.

We just use the scotts fertilizer spreaders. They clog up a little but they work good overall. I'm sure that one will work much better but if the difference in price is too much I'd just use a scotts.

If it's anything like their plows, I'd look elsewhere. My boss loves his Meyers because they're (relatively) simple to fix. I hate them because they require fixing 10x more often than our Fishers. My experience is they're a little cheaper, but built like total ****... at least judging by the old ST series blades, which are made of nothing but off-the-shelf angle iron, sheet metal, and flat plate, crappily welded together with no corrosion protection on surfaces you can't see.

How much does that thing go for? Buyers also sells walk-behinds, I think Ace told me $240 or so?

I don't salt that much, so I just use a handheld when the walkway gets too bad.

Thanks guys.
This one is all plastic and stainless.
The guy at the Meyers dealer gave me some tips too,
Salt only..or dry sand.
I'm going to give it a whirl.

we have one at work. using plain salt it works mint. with the salt/sand mix it does not work that well due to clumping. the sand must be really dry. when using the mix you have to shake or kick the hopper

I use a Scott's spreader to do my stores. I only do the walkways because the landlords all have the main lots plowed. I think it works great for 20 something bucks.

What is your mixture and what are you using to spray it?
