Walk through door addition?

I have a detached 2-car with the only access is the garage door itself. Making me want to add a walk-thru door so I dont have to open the big door every time i go out to do something. Plus it lowers the chance of wandering eyes peering on my cars. Here is a couple pics of what I have

My worry is that it would take structural strength away from this wall. Any construction guys with tips on how to go about doing such? If youre wondering where I would want it, I would think on the wall just to the right of the garage door. Roughly where that grey power box is.

You wouldn't happen to need a new overhead garage door would you? If so you could get a new overhead door with a walk through door built in. If not as long as a walk through door is framed in right I don't think you would have any problems at all.

You'll be cutting through that diagonal brace so put one in over a few bays. Other than that, doors are located just around the corner from the big door on a lot of garages. When you cut the sill plate out, put in an anchor bolt if there isn't one pretty close. The code requires 12" from each opening, but anywhere within a couple of feet will do fine.

If you use a pre-hung door with exterior molding attached, cut your opening with a masonry saw no more than a 1/2" all around. Back caulk the molding real good and slap that puppy in there.

Thats really all I thought I would need to do. I didnt think about moving the diagonal brace over, good call!

Good structure info above. Another consideration is how you will run wireing? I am not a fan of having the electrical panel jammed between the two doors. Try to come up with final plan for the building and then do what you can to make the final goal easiest to accomplish. Good luck on you project.

Im actually doing some sketches right now of everything that I want to accomplish upon my arrival back home.(currently overseas)
