Hi,
I have been lurking around for a while and thought when I have something worth posting I'll do it, so here I go.. I have found a Walker transmission Jack, It's all mechanical and weighs a ton! I have some pictures and a few dimensions. From my research I believe it to be a walker 44. It is red instead of the familiar blue and yellow paint scheme. It came with a few brackets but from what I have found there are a lot more than I have now. It has the Uni-cradle system too. I would like to find a source for a owners manual or repair manual that would have the pictures of the mounts. I think I could use a plasma cutter to cut out the new mounts. I know that It is asking a lot, but if someone would take a paper and trace them I could make copies that way too. Also this tag indicates it is not a "J" 44 like most but a "c" 44. Is that a size or maybe it an older version? If things go right, I would love to get this looking like a new one, It so unique, I have never seen anything like it and I have been working in garages for 30 years. It sure will be nice to put a transmission in without precariously balancing it on a floor jack!

p.s. pictures coming soon!!

I bought one of those new in 1979 from NAPA for $328 I believe. I changed a lot of Powerglides and Turbo 350 and 400 transmissions back then with it.

I looked up the patent number on the tag, found the out the patent was applied for in 1951 and granted in 1955. With that information it has to be 1955 or newer, otherwise it would say patent pending. Also found the odd looking bracket is for a cast iron case Powerglide. I probably won't need one of those! That was one pricey transmission jack it is 330 dollars in 1979. I appears that good tools have been expensive for awhile now.

I've got the same one, same color too. Mine came with brackets marked for Nash, Studebaker and I think, Packard.
I use mine to pull PTO units out of IH tractors, mostly.

Farmall,
Would you mind to jot down a few deminsions of you brackets? I'm going to make some factory type brackets and I'm sure they will work on more than Desoto's and Studebaker's. I have an idea to make brackets for more modern transmissions that I pull. For instance I have a pattern made for ZF transmission in a Superduty that can pull the transfer case with it. If you need a bracket send me a pattern, whats one more while I'm doing, Right?

After doing some cleaning I found blue paint under mine. Someone believes all Jacks should be red! Maybe you should go look and see if your is still in the shop... HaHa
