I am attempting to rebuild this jack. I need ideas as to how to remove this peened nut and replace washer. Ideas appreciated

I think there were a few variations over the years. At one time there was a nut over a washer, but I thought that variation was used when leather seals were used. Later, the rubber (nitrile?) seals snapped on into a groove.

Why are you wanting to replace the washer?

Secondly, I don’t see a Nut in that picture.

Based off the picture you have given, I believe you have a misunderstanding on what components you are dealing with. If I’m wrong, please correct me.

1. Is the Overlimit valve system, it should be a screen in the center and held in place by a “Washer” that is secured by peening the Piston head material in place. I don’t see any damage, if so please attach a better picture. I would not even mess with the components unless there are problems, normally pretty bulletproof.

2. Is the Heel plate, it gives #3 a solid base to rest against.

3. Is remnants of a Ucup, it’s job is seal the cylinder and allow the jack to build and hold pressure. Once you remove the old pieces, it will release the heel plate and washer underneath.
