Walker Floor Jack Rebuilding

Hello all, I'm new to the forum and first time poster.

I've been reading numerous forums about old floor jacks and want to say that I took everyone's advise on finding an old Walker floor jack and purchasing it at a nearby auction. I had to wait and look around for about 8 months before finding it. But the wait has been worth it.

I am now the prowd owner of a 4 ton Walker Floor Jack which is leaking out the main ram but fully functional. I need to clean it up and get all the old grease and grime off it. On the handle is an old metal tag that is illegibile. My first question is how do I find out the model to order the correct rebuild kit?

I'm looking at finding a rebuilding kit and attempting to rebuild it myself being I'm a weekend wrencher. Are these floor jacks to difficult to rebuild by someone like me?

Where can I find the correct rebuild kit?

Should I post a picture of it on this forum to see if anyone can give me the correct model?

Any help would be appreciated.

Either post some pictures or send them to Hiball and he can set you up with a kit. You will really like that jack when it is done, I know I enjoy all of mine.

Go to the top of the page, under "commumity" select "members" and then search for "hiball" under "H". Click on his name and send him a PM about your jack and the kit that you need. He should be able to help.

Vey nice job Scoutkid. Mine has a different handle, release knob with a "W" on it, and steel fitted handles for fingers. I don't know which model it is. You have done a great job on yours and I hope to do the same to mine. What color paint did you use?

Thanks

Thanks for the link. There will be plenty of reading and information for me. I'm still waiting to hear back from Hiball too.

Thanks to everyone with all the infromation to read.

When I bought the jack it did not have the center jack cover as can be seen in my pictures. Does anyone have or know where I can get one? Someone must have old parts for these jacks too.
