Hi everyone,
New guy to the forum here and what a wonderful source of information and just plain cool sh!t!!!
However, I'm stuck trying to identify this walker floor jack that was my grandfathers. I plan on rebuilding and using it. The nameplate is gone. The only identification marks i see are the numbers 4 and 2877 on the ram housing. I took a measurement of the ram and well and it seemed to be pushing 2" dia.
The color was originally blue with traces of yellow in the handle. I found two cotterpins sitting on the pedestal , after looking over the jack do they go on the shaft that is holding the springs that is tapered on both ends? I have attached some pictures.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as well some good links for a rebuild kit that is either in Canada or ships!
Thanks again!
Andrew

What a great jack and with family history too! Love the art deco styling. Can't wait to see it all restored. Does it presently work?

If you type in the search bar 'walker floor jack' I know threads will come up with a picture of the 'roll a car' line ads. I don't have it as mine is mechanical.

I have one that looks quite similar. It also appears that the ID plate is there on the back of the Handle but I could be wrong. It will for sure ID it.
Let us now what you find out.

OPPS, sorry I just reread your intial post, No nameplate!

You may be able to measure the diam. of the pump shaft for the parts and the ID.
Walker used the same frame for a line of models with different pumps and handle lengths for different models

Sorry to be of no major help!

I just joined the forum for the same reason...to determine the model number of my Walker Floor Jack so I can rebuild it. It "appears" to be identical to yours. I have determined, with the help of Hydraulic Parts Supply (a great group!!!), that it is a Model 784 (4 ton) which is identical to the Model 884. I purchased a repair kit from them for $56.75 and they mailed it out the same day. Hope this is helpful.

SpeyShooter did you ever get your Walker floor jack identified? A few more pictures of it cleaned up would help. From your original pictures I'd say it was a 4 ton Big Boy.

I have a similar one that I restored in its original color scheme a few years back...

It dates from the early 1940's. I also have an original, un-restored one...

...that dates from the late 1930's that's the same model.

For additional information and loads of pictures of them, take a look at this thread:

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51567

- Restored 1930's Auto Shop, starting on page 22, post # 421 and continuing for several pages and posts after that. I suspect you'll find it helpful.
