This jack followed me home a while back. I found a number of post but did not see any reference to this particular style of jack. A Ford V8 and Model A trans fits reasonably well in the saddle.
Any thoughts on this jack? Is there any historical info on Walker and the jacks they made?
Thanks!

The Only thing I know about that Jack is that its Wicked *** Cool...

I would say there is a Good Chance based off its size, Lack of Adjustability It was probably designed for the Early Fords.

Very Nice Find..

There is not much original paint left and I was thinking about cleaning and repainting it. It looks like it was black, would that be consistent with Walker's original color?

Some of the Early bottle jacks where black in color, in particular the ones that wore the big brass tags. Id say a good place to check for color would be on the underside, where it might have been protected a bit. I don't know if I would paint it or not, I would definitely clean the tag up, lube all the moving parts and then just admire it. Keep us updated with pictures on whatever route you go..

I'd think Model A or chevy. All of the X-frame Fords required the ****** to be removed from above. The only use of that jack for those would have been to support the trans while lining it up during installation. I always just used a pair of studs in the bell housing.

Did a little scrubbin' and under the dirt I found dark green paint on the casted parts. The wheels covers are plated and cleaned up reasonably well. I think I will spray it with a couple coats of satin clear to preserve the original paint and call it good.

Probably OK for model A, but in the 30s and 40s Ford X-frame cars the trans had to come out the top after the floorboards were removed and the axle moved back. I've done a few of those. You tarp the front seat and bust a gut lifting it out.
