Well got this off CL for 80 Bucks, missing the return spring but ebay had one for 11 bucks it is on the way. It will be a Refurb after the shop, delta-Rockwell Floor DP and the Power King 3 wheel Bandsaw.

Cyph: nice looking project. other than rust, new switch and the arc of shame it should clean up pretty nicely. i have one that I bought almost 100% restored that is close to the same year if you want me to post a few pictures on your thread. just ask and i'll do so otherwise best of luck and i don't think you overpaid.

i'm used to lifting 200 pound vises and i'm pretty sure my Walker Turner DP might weigh close to that much. it's a beast and hurts me every time i move it. hopefully i'll have a permanent home for it on a bench soon.

Hey,

Yeah if you could post some pictures that would be great. The switch I believe is supposed to be a rectangular shape with a toggle switch.Originally I thought I was missing the belt cover but in research it came only as an option. I will be fabricating one though does your have a cover ? I did get the spring return from ebay the guy had 6 of them only two with springs there were two others one for 35 no spring and one for 60 with a broken spring. I found mine for 11 bucks lol:} The arc of shame is going to be epoxy and cast iron brake dust most likely. I have been researching bearings apparently is has special ones with extended inner races I found some info here and vintage machinery. If I need them I will delve into more research going to tear it all the way down and clean them and see they were a little noisy. Was this a green one gray one with a black motor ? The front label is black and white but the motor has a color badge on it which I am guess from reading is due to being able to pick what motor you want.

Cypher: i bought this Walker Turner from an 80 year old machinist friend that is very particular about 100% original and he said this one is even down to the belt that says Walker Turner on it.

i'm looking for an original slow drive accessory and 2 small original WT small belts if anybody has one please PM me because i sold the tall WT that had them on them to another GJ member that uses his more often.

ask me any questions you have after looking at my terrible pictures. you should be able to make out a few things you asked and i have it on a dolly now next to my bench so i can roll it out for close ups if you need some. i'd like to clean up the post and take the primer off it and shine it up, but i'm waiting until i get my shop set up and have my Baldor buffer with a deburring wheel on it.

any idea what year mine is and i think i remember him saying late 30's.

good luck with your restoration when you get time.

If it is a 1 9 44 it is was made in 1944 the front label should be black and white and have 1 9 44 on it . Looks like the only thing missing from yours Is the post cap . Check this out http://wiki.vintagemachinery.org/WalkerTurnerSerialNumbers.ashx I have seen the slow speed attachment on ebay but only a repop for 209 plus http://www.ebay.com/itm/WALKER-TURN...-Attachment-NEW-MFR-Made-IN-USA-/191467328423 . I have a delta Rockwell floor DP that can go from 450 to 4700 rpm so I am just going to fabricate a cover and not worry about slow speed. A buddy and I went in together on a Walker Turner Radial Arm Drill Press we got at government auction for $450.00 :} Just rehabbed it and swapped the 3 phase motor out. It looks like this one 10366-A.jpg we both get into old machines and tools.

You could have kept the 3ph on that radial arm and went with a VFD for speed control/forward reverse action. Nice job, can't wait to see the rest of your work!

Yeah if he had the money I own half of it lol he has it in his shop a mile away he thought it was just 220v and has that but not 3 phase. We discussed a VFD and using a jumper motor but for expediency we did a swap kept the old parts cleaning them up and painting them to match and eventually if possible we will get a VFD and put them back on. He bought an XY table and I bought the DP and still redoing the shop.
