Doesn't have the cast belt cover or spindle cap/oiler. Switch isn't original and someone drilled and tapped 15 holes in the table.

It has original 1/2HP motor, production table and is a floor model.

Type 1, 900 series circa 38-47?

This one has the Slo-Speed attachment and 3rd pulley.

Speeds are 165, 365, 385, 785, 800, 3260, 3600, 3700, 6700, 6750.

Standard one has speeds of 600, 1250, 2440 5000.

The make a slo-speed version that has a different pulley that gives you 489,940, 1800, 2900.

Runs smooth but needs new belts.

I adjusted them.

Haven't checked run out or oiled it yet.

I like the square table. Does the pot on the corner have a drain hole or is it closed to use as a coolant/lube pot? The many tapped holes will be useful for hold down clamps or angle plate mounting.
With the slow speeds you will never have to burn out a holesaw again.
Nice score.

Nice score.

It has a drain hole so you can use a coolant pump in a container that catches the coolant.

I don't know what the vintage ones looked like.

Nice Find! $100 in my parts will get you a bench model walker turner no slo-speed missing a bunch of parts and rusted up. That's if you're lucky enough to find someone willing to sell it. I hardly ever see walker turners around here and if I do they're ridiculously priced imo.

That slow speed option plate is pretty cool, havent seen that before.

Unlikely, but in that photo of the head from the side in the second batch of photos... it looks like the column isnt parallel to the spindle? Have you checked?

Congrats.

Very nice! I acquired a bench model minus the low speed attachment a couple years ago. Mine included the original cast iron table and is all original.

I have always liked the Walker Turner brand. Sadly, I have never owned any of that line except for a WT bandsaw blade welder. It is new old stock. I rewired the bandsaw blade welder about 7 years ago because all of the wire insulation fell off.
I used this blade welder one time to test it. The high quality is just what a person might expect from this manufacturer.
I may put this welder on Craigslist this year.

Owning a Walker Turner is like owning a Rolex. There are bragging rights that go with ownership.
As much as I appreciate a 50 year old WT, I do not want to have one. I have to think any well used drillpress that old may be all but worn out.
I have bought several WT drill presses and turned down long term ownership. I cannot afford to keep a WT at the prices the Man-Cavers will pay for bragging rights that go with ownership.
I have gone to Camel-Back drill presses that were made in the 1886, 1897 and 1907. The names are WF and John Barnes, Hoefer and Canedy Otto. If a person wants to have a good working drill press with little use and no wear, I have a Champion Blower and Forge post drill with over 30 drill bits included. While working much slower than a powered WT, it drills a hole with so much more pizazz and flare. The hand cranked flywheel will give a modest work-out while the operator sips his veggie drink.
My old Camelback drill presses are rebuildable. Pouring new babbit bearings is not foreign to me and this is part of the joy of ownership of these classic and beautiful machines.
These drill presses are part of the shop and often see daily use. Working classic styled antiques is what I call them.

Darwyn, you are a little over an hour south of me. What exactly are you looking for? I have several drill presses that I will be selling. PM me if interested.
