Hi,

I am restoring my second W-T series 900 DP. This one came with an unbroken production table, although it does have an "arc of shame". The previous owner painted the entire DP black, including the electric cord, down feed handle and drill chuck. I have spent hours working to get the old paint off. It came with a homemade slow speed attachment but I am going to put a VFD on it.

My question is about painting the trough around the table. Was the trough and the corner cup painted originally?

Thanks, Tom

Yes, the oil trough and drainage point should be painted machine color. Generally, unmachined surfaces of castings are painted while machined surfaces are not. Too bad about the repaint. Walker turner built nice machines--I have a few. Post some pictures as you progress.
