I have a 1940's Walker Turner 900 series drill press. I am putting on a slow speed attachment and am not sure of the belts I need.

The distance between the spindles is about 16.5". It runs normal with a 44" V-Belt. When I put this center pulley in I am not sure what belts it needs. I look up people selling slow speed attachments with belts, but no one lists the belt sizes they are including with it.

Also, not 100% sure it makes a difference, but the pulley I am using is not the Walker Turner Slow Speed pulley. It is actually a pulley I was able to pick up myself. I pressed in some roller bearings so it will run with very little friction, and fabricated the mount from scratch.

If you guys could let me know the stock pulleys the Drill uses with the Walker Turner attachment that would be great. Also, if you could let me know the proper way to measure for belts that would help too. I figure I cant just divide the 44" belt in half because there will be a 3rd pulley. But since every groove on the pulley is a different diameter I am not sure how to figure out what to run.

You can use a string around the pullies to measure the belt size you need.

Or

You can get one of those link belts from HF and adjust it to the size you need it

Thanks!
I have seen link belts in pictures, never realized that's what they were though and they they are adjustable like that. I see them on Amazon now. No one near me seems to stock v-belts. Always bought belts for my equipment that are the correct size online. Guess I will get a four feet of that and get to work.

NAPA carries a wide variety of belts, and their stores are everywhere. Make an educated guess on the size, but a belt, take it home & try it. If it's off, take it back & get the next size. Repeat as necessary.

Is the new pulley an exact reverse of the original? Use a string to measure the pulleys on the big and little ends and make sure the length is the same. If the steps in the pulleys are different the belt length may change. You probably did that but hey it never hurts to ask.
