I got this drill press from my dad it has a Att. for a mortise set up.
to put it on you have to take off the depth gauge collet but the collet for the mortis Att. is smaller than the chuck, does the chuck unscrew or is it a friction fit. my drill press looks just like the picture on the start of this site.
Thanks for any help. Lee

Welcome Lee, can you post a pic? The common WT 900 series DP usually has a taper mount chuck, which is a press fit. Some had a threaded collar just above the chuck, which could be unscrewed to "jack" the chuck off the spindle.

Mine has the threaded collar. Best in my opinion.

Thanks for the info. it was a taper fit, after I posted this I put a small bucket full of rags under the chuck and put a wedge on each side and it came right off. ( it was made in 1950 so the spanner wrenches are long gone)
Thanks again for the help..........Lee
