Hi,

I am looking for information on a replacement capacitor for and old Walker-Turner grinder. My father had the grinder in his barn, and I am not sure where it came from. There is no capacitor under the base. Here are the specs from the tag:

Type: ZA
H.P.: 1/2
Cycles: 60
RPM: 3450
Frame: 46 1
Volts: 110
Phase: 1
Serial: 6037872

What makes you think it had a capacitor? With only two wires going to the stator, it could be a shaded pole induction motor that doesn't use a start or run capacitor. (low HP grinders don't require much starting torque.)

Shaded pole motors don't have much starting torque. If the grinder has dirty or worn bearings it might not start. Give the wheel a spin and it should feel nearly frictionless.
