Walker turner oil cup?

Would it be some standard press in size by any chance?

As of now I want to maintain the machine as original as possible, but I dont want to run it with the busted cap and risk running grit through the quill/spindle assembly.

I can get the whole cap used for $30ish on ebay but i would like to keep the original if possible.

LS: can you take more pictures of your machine so some of us can see it and maybe give you a little more help?

i'm guessing you could make a cap easy enough, but the $30 replacement sounds ok. is the replacement off an old machine or just a new one that will do the job?

It's just a Gits Oil Cup. It will either be a press fit or 1/8" NPT. Either way, don't be fooled by the ebay prices. They can be had for about $10 each. Pull yours out and see what you have. If it's a press fit, you'll likely destroy it in the process.

After re reading the OP's post, I'm thinking that he can buy an entire cast walker turner top piece that is used.

As for the Gits cups, they are not serviceable, to my knowledge. The little flappers are pined in place and can't be purchased seperatly.

A wild *** guess tells me that it looks to be a Style E, perhaps 3/8" diameter hole. Said part will cost you $5.63 off amazon.

Dunno: that is what i was thinking the $30 on Ebay was for the entire piece and not just the cap. thanks for the 411 on the caps.

Lil: i bet having a lifetime supply of those around would be handy or at least knowing somebody that does would.

Yup, i spotted a couple spindle cap assemblies on ebay for about that much and when I came across some oil cups being listed for 40+ it seemed like a good idea lol.

I have since seen some for less than $1.50 on amazon.



I pulled the original out and it seems to measure at 6mm across the bottom. Im sure the replacements are a bit larger for a press fit but Im guessing the spec diameter I want to order the hole diameter or the diameter of the cup installed.

I read that WT used metric/inch bearings, would the cups be metric or should I try 1/4" instead?

The spring seems to have broken, though not in the worst way. It was likely the source of the gritty sound and feel that came from the spring housing. It sounded terrible but I figured it was the spring its self binding from lack of lube, obviously theres no lack of lube.
