Walking on Racedeck/Motofloor

I had an opportunity to walk on a racedeck floor today and it had a hollow and loose type of feel to it. Is this normal for this type of flooring material?

It has a hollow and loose sound to it. I wouldn't say it feels that way though. I've gotten used to it and don't notice it much anymore. It sure beats the concrete that it is covering.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Also, when you have a car or two in the garage sitting on top of it, that really cuts down on the noise.

As Van Morrison sings, "Hear the clickity-clack of high heeled shoes." This is what walking on race deck reminds me of. My buddy has this system, and I purposely make extra noise as I sing this tune whenever I am on the floor, just to get his goat! Having a vehicle parked on it will reduce the movement and noise of the floor. You could also consider a sound-deadening underlayment for the floor. Something as simple as cardboard or indoor/outdoor carpet will reduce the noise.

This would greatly impact the durability of the floor by allowing too much movement and flex. Quite a while back there was a RaceDeck dude that used to frequent here when it was "garage junkies" that highly discouraged that practice.

I have heard, you can try a thin landscape felt ( sold at home depot ) it is made from some kind of plastic but it should absorb the sound.

By the sound of it, I quess its just something that you have to get used to.

Is there anyone in sourhern ct that has a race deck or motofloor that I can take a look at?

I recently put down Race Deck (19' x 23'), and initially purchased some weed control mesh at Walmart. Laying a test sample, it hardly made any noise difference under the Race Deck. I went to a local nursery & purchased some landscaping felt (6' wide @.79 a linear ft.); no hollow sound...it's great.

only problem I seen with racedeck etc. is if you turn your wheels alot the racedeck kinda buckles a bit.
jackstands seem to gouge the tiles too.

Maybe the mating of the tabs & loops aren't quite locked in some places. My Race Deck has zero movement with both vehicles. The driveway is L shaped and to enter the garage I have to make a sharp right turn,then straighten the wheels once I'm inside.
