Got the walls painted, work bench is built, painting the ceiling tonight and my floor is going down tommorrow. So with that said, its time to think about whats going on the walls. Besides the old metal signs and the beer lights I have, I was thinking of having something painted on the wall. The guy I talked to said he can pretty much paint whatever I want in a 4x8 for about 165 bucks.... That sounded really reasonable to me so Im thinkin what the hell. Now all I have to do is come up with something. Looking for some thoughts and opinions. Any ideas would be great. Im leaning towards something chevrolet, He said he could also paint a nova on the wall too. How cool would that be to have a murial of your car on the wall :). Any advice to help me with my decision would be great......

Cool idea about having your car as the mural. I'd go one better and have him include you leaning over the engine compartment.

If you want to tick off the wife/girlfriend you could have them added in the background mopping the floor. :bounce: Just kidding.

Make sure to post a pic of the final masterpiece.

Just do something that your into. Like if you have a Nova have them do a picture of it at the 1/4 mile or cruising on the street.

My favorite car growing up was a 67' Nova. I vowed to have one someday but somewhere along my travels I changed my mind. Such is life.

How about a Nova getting torched by a FORD - I'll kick in $20bucks!! (Kidding - - on the money part!):bounce:

But really, what if you sell the car? Why not take a look at old-time garage signs? HotRod has a bunch with and without the stylized 'babe' in them. I had thought of something like "mylastname & Sons" in a logo... (plus I have two boys).

Do the Nova, but in a cartoon fashion, like "Krass and Bernie" of Car Craft magazine. Or those old posters we used to color when we were kids.

I'd ask to see some of his work first though. You might end up painting over it if it looks like poo.

When I was a kid I had a deal called a "magnajector"? or some such.
A bright light bulb a mirror and an adjustable lense let you project
photo size images on the wall. I've always thought if I could find
another one I'd use it for some life size garage wall art. Or if you've
got a few $$ burning a hole in your pocket you could pop for one
of these. http://www.garagescenes.com/home.html

I've seen a lot of attempts at cars being painted on walls, country scenes, etc. etc. They never look as good as you think they will.

I'd seriously think about having a speed shop store front, old dealership store front, gas station door, etc. put on the wall.

Don't know how big your garage is, but if you had him paint the wall with the entry door or door to the house, you could make that the front of whatever building he'd paint on the wall.

There is a site called Wallhogs. They will take y our high quality photo and turn it into a printout that you can stick to your wall.Take a great pricute of your car send it to them and it will come back ready to stick. They also can cut them out so it is more 3D. A little more pricey then painting but it will be BAD A$$.

What a great idea! I'm gonna loook into that. Also, maybe I'll add my daughter studying math at her desk without an iPod or video game.

paint the wall like it a row of very big expensive toolboxes

paint the side profile of another car that you dream of owning so it looks like its sitting in the next bay

one guy I saw painted a picture of his car racing on a race track (taken from a picture of him running at an open track event)

paint the figures of a bunch or your 'legends' on the wall like they are looking over your stuff (richard petty, mario andretti, albert einstien, bob villa...etc)

in that last house I painted the mural of a train (4449 daylighter) on the wall of the office/trainroom.

paint what looks like a parts store shelf row on the wall. it can have oil, oil filters, carb cleaner...etc and lots of other parts. then you can cut out little cubby holes in the wall (between the studs) where you can store actual oil, oil filters, carb cleaner and really freak people out when you 'grab one off the shelf'

I'll second that, just like Trosley would do it!

http://www.georgetrosley.com/

I'll third that. I had Trosley do a picture of my 72 Buick Convert already and I am going to have it scanned at t avinyl shop and create a big "decal" for my garage wall.

If you have a good high resolution image, we can print it on adhesive wall vinyl.

What about a doorway into the other half of your shop, kinda like this...

Seriously, what about just a vintage Chevy logo...

You might be able to get a more....shall we say "adult" drawing from Trosley too. He does or did cartoons in some of the less mainstream men's magazines.
