Looking for a lightweight wall board product to place under paneling.

I am finishing this upper wall with a 4x8 paneling product (which I will paint). The problem is the wall was built on 24" studs and I want to ensure the modern "cardboard-like" wall paneling does not bow when placed over the 24" gaps in the studs. I hate to use sheetrock (like the other side) or plywood due to weight concerns. Any "new" tech products out there that is stiff enough to be a backer for the paneling while not adding a lot of weight? I plan to insulate it as well.

Thanks,

RKTINC

That is one consideration. We thought maybe putting 1"x4"s across every few feet might work to eliminate the flex while keeping weight off as much as possible. it would also hold the insulation in place.
