Wall Cabinets - steel

Anyone familiar with these cabinets?

I have 3 HF 44" chests and need some wall cabinets. About 6 of these would do the trick for me. I ordered one to see if the color halfway matches the HF chests. Hopefully quality is OK. They ship free and price seems OK. I found the manufacturer by seeing the cabinets on Home Depot site as a packaged deal that included lockers and lower cabinets. This outfit sells them as individual components.

Going to remove the wheels of the HF chests as others have done and build a frame for the workbench out of steel or wood, don't know yet. Have a buddy that has a stainless steel fab shop, so you can guess what the top will be.

Just my opinion but meh.... $1000 with tax for 6 of them. They're 24 gauge so probably thinner or the same as Craftsman and you get those for $25 cheaper each. $150 saving right there.

EDIT: My bad. Craftsman has gone up since last looked. Now $145 person still a little savings but not much. Still like the Craftsman better but that's just me

I like the style of the cabinet and it kinda looks like it may have similar handles as the HF boxes. There are a couple other "Cabinet" threads I just noticed and it sounds like if I get that cabinet I ordered without dents, I'll be lucky.

By the way, no tax in Oregon.

Received the one cabinet I ordered. The shipping box was literally beat to heck. The cabinet was in a box inside the shipping box and was unscathed. The colors don't match at all between the HF box and the cabinet, but the doors are easily removable and a rattle can will fix that.

The doors have a web brace as does the shelf. Quality is fine, so I'm going to order more.

I have a whole 12 pc set of these which include 4 wall mounted cabinets, 2 floor locker cabinets, 2 bench height double door cabinets and 2 3 drawer tool cabinets. All of which lock and are built extremely well. I have absolutely no complaints regarding these and they more than suit my needs. Shelving can hold close to 200lbs per shelf which is more than sufficient. I plan to get 2 more of the 6ft floor locker cabinets for my downstairs workshop now as well. The picture is from the spring, I've pretty well finished up my renovation since!.

Those cabinets look real similar to the ones my Dad and I just installed. We ordered a pre-cut and pre-drilled garage workshop for my ATV's and his truck. I can ask him but I think the cabinets came with but they look so similar to the ones you posted. Where did you get them?

I sprayed the doors with Rustoleum Safety Red, today. Good enough match to the HF toolboxes for me. Still finishing up the drywall in the shop, so have time to order more cabinets.

Okay Speedster, your last picture is kinda freaking me out. How is it possible that the front of the toolbox fills up the steel frame opening completely but the back of it leaves 6"(?) exposed and visible? What am I missing?

Huh? The Frame is 30" deep, so you may be seeing the side of the toolbox, that is something like 24" deep or so.

May do that, Brian. My 6' level is in there now. I could shear up a panel to close it off, but when it comes to Pretty vs Practical, I'll usually chose the later.

By the way, I set up the framework to front load the toolboxes into the frames, rather than dropping them in from the top. (Even if I had a forklift, couldn't figure the rationale for doing it from above) , The front top angle then bolts in place to tie everything together. I figured my Nephew will appreciate that when it comes time for my Estate Sale! I told him the wheels may be behind the cabinets or he may have to look around and find that I've re-purposed them. Those wide casters are too cool to just let lay around.

I really like the dimensions for these. The others I've seen are only 11-12" deep, and 26-28" high.

If quality stands up, seems like these are the best money for the space.

Nice and big, look pretty good too. I see that they are not in stores. Maybe someone has them and can report.

I took a look in store and they have them mounted way up there out of reach. I was able to look at another piece lower down and it was a bit thin, but I wonder when you get them mounted side by side if they stiffen up. I'd be up for tieing them together or putting some bracing together. But lI'd ike to see if the rest is good.

Placed the 16ga stainless bench tops today, 183" long x 30" deep. Friend owns a SS Fab shop and traded work on his Model A for his labor to make the tops. He refused to make out of anything but stainless.

It may sound funny but I'm looking forward to the first scratches and dents. In my eye it looks too good for a working bench.

Also did a top for the reloading bench where the stainless is going to be sweet to have for cleaning up spilled powder etc.

Time for Payback to the Pal that made the stainless workbench tops:

His Model A just needs a bit of finishing up. Install distributor, finish wiring in the engine compartment and whatever else I can find. He's not a Model A guy (Yet). I bet once he starts driving it, he will be.

More cabinets arrived today. One more coming Saturday that will be a bookshelf, in-between the six.

Occasionally Sears will have the 30" Gladiator cabinets on sale for $100. I got these two for $210 total. They aren't red but the quality is pretty good.

Yup! They are very easy to remove and did prior to hanging the cabinets, painted the doors and they were still "Tacky" when I reinstalled them. I'll put the locks (That I will never use) in tomorrow. Should have a pic of the bookshelf tomorrow.

Nice to have a shop radio setup.

Now installing a sliding door from the pole barn storage area to the shop. Welded up a track as seen in the picture below. Still need to build a door and then automate it.
