When I went to college, I ventured far from my home state of Arizona to get as far away from my parents as possible... to the State of New York. One of the great things about the school was that it had a wonderful student auto shop, which I eventually got keys to somehow... I forget if I was indeed the shop manager or what, but anyhow... all of the tools, whether they were hand tools or pneumatic, had an outline drawn on the wall and a mount setup specifically for that tool. This way, it was easy to check if something was missing and hold people accountable for not cleaning up their mess.

In any case, now that I've got my own shop built and I've invested in a compressor with air drops throughout the building, I'm keen on getting a few basic pneumatic tools (air ratchet, impact, die grinder, cutoff, etc.). My existing tool cabinets are full up and looking at the cost and footprint of yet another rolling cabinet doesn't sound like a good idea anymore. I'm thinking of hanging the pneumatics on the wall. Does this sound like a good idea to anyone and if it does, is there a system you prefer over another considering the weight of pneumatic tools is considerably higher than small hand tools?

No photos at the moment. I had bought a box cheap air chucks and plugs at a Home Depot clearance sale. Not good for air, but they do thread into each other and through the oval slots in Super Strut. Had to use some large washers to keep the plugs from passing through.

I attached the Super Strut to two shelf brackets and have a nice wall rack to mount air tools to.

this rack has worked well for me, some guy was making these as a side gig and selling them at a Carlisle car show a few year ago, maybe $30.

only downside with that AirTool Caddy mentioned earlier is that I needed to grind out a little more space in the slot so that it would fit a high flow connector used on some of my tools, versus the standard industrial sized connectors. not a big deal.
